The law, in short, and what we do not decide for you.
We are a design studio, not a law firm. Here is what the sources say; your own case is for your lawyer or accountant.
- The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) applies from 28 June 2025 and covers e-commerce services, among others. Read the directive on EUR-Lex
- Greece transposed it with law 4994/2022. Read a summary on Lawspot (in Greek)
- The common technical reference is WCAG, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. We work to WCAG 2.2 level AA.
- Microenterprises that provide services (fewer than 10 people and annual turnover or balance sheet up to €2 million) are exempt from the service requirements, under Article 4(5) of the directive. Check the article on EUR-Lex
- Please confirm your own case with your lawyer or accountant. We never tell anyone that they are or are not covered.
- Whatever the answer, a shop people can use with a keyboard, a screen reader or a zoomed screen is a better shop.

- An audit of the key templates: home, collection or category, product, cart, contact and your other forms. We use automated tools plus manual checks: keyboard-only use, screen-reader spot checks, contrast, focus, alt text, form labels and errors, and zoom to 200%
- A written list of issues, each with where it is and how we fix it
- Fixes in the theme or site code for the issues in scope. The written quote lists them
- A draft accessibility statement page for your shop, which you review
- A re-check of the fixed templates
Works for Shopify shops and for sites we build. Other platforms are quoted after a look.

- Third-party apps and widgets we cannot edit. We list them and suggest replacements

Does the law apply to my shop?
We cannot tell you, and we never tell anyone that they are or are not covered. The directive covers e-commerce services, and microenterprises that provide services (fewer than 10 people and annual turnover or balance sheet up to €2 million) are exempt from the service requirements. Do you guarantee compliance?
No. We fix the issues in scope to WCAG 2.2 level AA and document what we did. We do not give legal advice or a certificate of compliance.
Will my shop look different?
Mostly not. Contrast or focus styles may change, and you approve those before they go live.
What about my apps and widgets?
If we cannot edit a third-party app or widget, we cannot fix it. We list it in the issue list and suggest replacements. Shopify's own checkout is not part of the pack either, because Shopify controls it.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the shop and the theme. We agree the timeline in writing before we start.
